Roses Working Overtime

I passed this garden on Commonwealth Avenue today:

It's not a great photo, sorry. (I need a better camera.) But I hope you can still see that, while the tree has lost almost all of its red leaves, all those rosebushes are still working their tails off. Every bush had blooms and most had buds. They weren't among the happiest roses I've seen — they looked like they were wishing for sweaters — but they were doing their best.

An occasional December rose is a lovely surprise, but this strikes me as bizarre. It must be stressful for the bushes. They should be resting, wrapped in burlap coats.

We don't usually see roses and Christmas decorations going full blast together. It's time we had some serious cold weather.

  1. Yep, my little bush roses are blooming and it's sweet! I took a photo of TomTom framed by them, on my Caturday post...
