Doubtful Guest Lingers

The Doubtful Guest's "guest" status is becoming increasingly "doubtful" with each day as he delicately insinuates himself into our household.

The shaved fur on his back and tail (because of burrs) is growing in gray and white, not black, so he looks a bit odd. He also has a tiny scratch on his nose, which is healing slowly. But he's still a knockout, we think. He sleeps tucked under my chin at night.

He also likes broccoli:

  1. Wait, I'm confused: I've been waiting with bated breath to learn the outcome of the dreaded "trial separation" and was quite worried that you hadn't been reporting about little Lion since Sunday. Did he go for a day or two? Did he not go? And if he didn't go, when and where did the shaving take place? And the scratch on the nose? How are Toffee, et al. responding to him now? Curious minds want to know!

  2. If he likes broccoli, he needs to stay. I understand the Dood says so ;)

  3. Whoops, sorry for the confusion. The trial separation didn't happen. Neither of us could figure out how to get into the car with him in a carrier. It just seemed impossible. So he's still here. He was shaved shortly after he was rescued in Maine but now we can see for sure that his new fur is white or gray, not the original black. No idea how the nose scratch happened; the boys wrestle a bit with him but they aren't mean but playful, and Wendy has been well-behaved, too. He's curled up in bed between us purring his head off right now.

  5. Black, white, grey no matter, cute is cute whatever the color.
Broccoli! Dood approved snack!(really must offer it to mine and see if they like it too).
Are Wendy, Possum and Harris happy? I know Toffee likes the little 'guest'.
And, kids & boo-boos, bound to happen.

  6. Aww. Thanks for the clarification. As much as I feel for your dilemma about whether to keep him on Guest status or not, it just seemed like sending him off (to a shelter, as opposed to straight to a new and loving home) after him just beginning to settle in would be tough on all of you.
    Hope you're all well.

  7. He is a keeper. Your little Maine-uh can be a proper Bostonian.
