Postcards from Maine: Asticou Garden Color

We went for a walk in the Asticou Azalea Garden after lunch last Sunday, in between bouts of rain:


Because we didn't get to Maine last fall, I'd forgotten that the garden looks even better in October than it does in late June, when we've missed almost all of the blooming azaleas and rhododendrons. It was beautiful on such a gloomy day, even though its autumn color hadn't peaked yet:





Someday I'd like to see it when the flowers are at peak. I'd also like to see it covered in snow.
